Cover suggestions for Book III

Hello fans of Lentari! As work progresses on the third and final installment of the Bakkian Chronicles, I started wondering about what should be depicted on the book cover. So I have a question for fans of fantasy:

What do you think are elements of a good fantasy cover? Something eye-catching, or colorful, or whimsical?

With regards to the other covers, the first book conveyed what I thought was a gorgeous scene of a forest through the open portal in the mansion. The second was a whimsical scene where Pryllan and Peanut meet face to face for the first time. Granted, without disclosing details on what will happen with Amulet of Aria, all I will say that the final confrontation with Celestia, the sister, will take place. And let’s just say that she really, really, and I do mean really wants Mikal. There will be battles, dragon riding on multiple dragons (gasp!), and accidental teleportations, just to name a few. Oh, did I mention that the battle finds its way to our world?? 🙂

Suggestions? Let me know what you guys feel makes a good cover for a fantasy story!

  • Giving Peanut a jhorun. LOL! I can see it now. Steve and Sarah keep trying to figure out why bones are appearing out of thin air!

  • celeste looking back through the portal and maybe a pic of mikal giving peanut a jhorun?????

  • Hello!

Hmmm, it’s been suggested to me more than once to have the amulet featured in some way.

Without giving too much away, the amulet has been broken in two. I like the idea of having two different scenes. Will have to think about that one!

  • Colorful and detail catches my eye when Im looking for a book. I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but its the first thing you look at and for me if its a dull picture I most of the time will not be interested enough to read the back. Since the amulate plays a big part, what about a picture of the amulate blown up to fit the book size with it sectioned off with smaller pictures about the book in the sections. Like maybe a dragon scene in one section, the portal with Celeste (like the suggestion above) the kingdom scene in another and maybe Steve blowing something to smitherines with other characters in the back ground. Those are just suggestion pictures scenes..whatever you prefer Im sure would be fantastic 🙂

  • Hmmm, not a bad idea. I like the idea of Celestia having the sinister, forboding look on her face.

    Thanks for the suggestion, Sautin!

  • Since the last paragraph of the 2nd book was about Celeste, maybe one element could be Celeste standing in front ff the portal with her head turned back with a sinister look and Mikal walking away on the other side as the portal begins to fade away. Kind of like Celeste was observing Mikal and turns to the reader to indicate something bad is going to happen and she is going to do it.
