Authors! Need an editor?

If you’re an author then you’ll understand how important it is to get your book as clean as possible.  You’ll also know easy it is to overlook the tiniest of errors.  If you’re like me, nothing frustrates an author than to devote so much time and energy to releasing a book only to discover a typo, or perhaps an inconsistency.

That’s why you need an editor.   An editor can point out grammar mistakes, typos, plot holes, or in my case, blatant WTF moments.   The guy who edited my last two books, Derek Pritchard, has started offering his services to other authors.  I would strongly encourage you, if you’re an author, to contact him to see what he can do for you.  His prices are very reasonable.  Let me tell you, ‘methodical’ doesn’t even begin to describe his work.  He will find the tiniest errors and bring them to your attention so that these errors don’t make it to print.

Here’s his website:  Derek Pritchard Editing.

Give him a try!  You won’t be disappointed!

Hey buddy, can you spare a name?

Since today is the 1st official day I’m spending on aPfyT, I’ve sketched out some details for chapter 1 and am ready to write.  So, with that being said, I could use a couple of names!  Want to name a fictional character?  Now’s your chance!  Let’s see…  I could use:

1.  At least three or four human names.  Not related.

2.  At least 2 dragon names.

3.  For kicks and giggles, let’s throw in a dwarf name or two.

I always like having extra names handy.  Come on, guys!  Got some suggestions for me?  Hit me with your best shot!

Something Wyverian This Way Comes is out!

Something Wyverian This Way ComesTales of Lentari #2 has been officially released!  I’ll keep updating this post with retailer sales links as I see them appear.  This is definitely the fastest I’ve ever written/released a book, so I’m hopeful I’ll get ToL #3 out by Christmas!

Here are the retailers that have the book:

Smashwords , Amazon USA , Amazon , Apple’s iTunes

The Amazon links don’t show the book’s cover just yet, but I do know that it can take a day or two for all the info to show up.  Seeing how this showed up less than 15 minutes after I hit the “Publish” button, that’s not bad.  🙂

Tales of Lentari #3 underway!

It’s Friday! You know what that means, right? It’s time to par-tay!! 🙂

Ok, seriously, since anyone that knows me will know that I’m not a partier (hell, I’m not really a drinker, either), all kidding aside it means that I’m in a really good mood. Why is that?

Lemme explain…

Something Wyverian is in the hands of the beta readers and proofers. It should be ready to be released very soon. Since I don’t have anything to work on (for the moment) I decided to officially start Tales of Lentari #3. The book has been mapped out and I’ve started on the first chapter, with a goal of having chapter 1 completed in the next day or so.

What’s this one about? Well, Lost City featured the dwarves. Something Wyverian was about the dragons. This one will predominately feature the humans. Don’t get me wrong, the standard group of non-humans will also be there, but this time the story will be revolving around us humans.

What specifically? Hah! Foolish humans! You didn’t think I’d let slip the plot, did you? Mwahahahaha! Let’s just say that I’ve listened to all of your requests and have decided to incorporate a few of the most requested plot lines in there.

This story will feature tons of action, more humor, and some returning characters! Stay tuned! You never know when I’ll let something slip!!

Worth sharing!

Hello, everyone!  A good friend of mine, poet extraordinaire Derek Pritchard, composed this for me and I thought it worth sharing!  I’ve since shared it with my family and I will say, Derek, that my family absolutely loves it!

THE WRITER

He’s gone through the portal
And opened the gates
To that place in his mind
Where old Lentari waits.

He’s completing a story;
It is a she-dragon’s tale
And, when we’ve fixed all the errors,
He will put it on sale.

He’s already started the next one
With wife, Giliane, in tow –
Although what this one’s about
We do not yet know

But we know when he’s finished,
When his new story’s done,
That we’ll want it like the others
Because Jeff’s books are fun!

I also would like to announce if you’re on Facebook then you ought to stop by for an event happening today that features Indie Authors.  I’m slated to be featured 4pm Central time, which is in about 2.5 hours for me.  I’ll be giving away ebooks, talking about SWtwC, and answering any questions about myself or the books that anyone would like to know!  I hope to see you guys there!

Sending out the call for Beta Readers!

Hello all you honorary citizens of Lentari!  The second volume in the Tales of Lentari is rapidly approaching the finish line so it’s that time to send out a request to anyone that might be interested in being a beta reader for me.  I already have a few lined up, but as anyone knows with writing, the more eyes you have checking over your work, the better.

The requirements are having a healthy grasp of the English language.  As Derek will attest, there are times when I’m typing along and my fingers can’t keep up with my brain, so what appears on the page is a bastardized version of the scene playing out in my head.  I’m looking for people not afraid to tell me if something doesn’t sound right, or if I left a plot hole open, or perhaps something just isn’t clear.  The more help I get cleaning this thing up the better.  Plus, I’ll leave you a shout-out in the acknowledgments!

Interested?  Post a comment here and let me know!  Thanks in advance for giving me a hand!
